[[File:Conversationpiece.jpeg|right|200px]]"Conversation Piece" is an album credited to [[Allan Holdsworth, Gordon Beck, Jeff Clyne, John Stevens]], although [[John Stevens]] is the de facto leader, as  he was responsible for the release of this album. Allan considered this a bootleg.
This was recorded in 1977 on a separate session from “Touching On” and with a different lineup. Gordon Beck has a somewhat more soulful style on side 2 than Jeff Young had on “Touching On”, but still it’s fairly challenging listening, and not always so rewarding.

Some reissues of the album contain additional tracks that do not feature Allan.

"So I’m as disgusted with John '''Stevens''' as I am with a lot of the record companies, who are doing the same thing to a lot of the people who pass on, like Jaco Pastorious. I think it’s completely degrading what they’ll do to people after they’ve gone. I think if the musician wanted them to be part of his thing they would have already been out."
