Tempest was drummer Jon Hiseman’s band, modelled on Cream, but with a progressive sound. They released their eponymous debut album in 1973. Plenty guitar solos! “Strangeher” is a good example, with a simple boogie rock riff, which Allan takes to outer space in his solo. “Upon Tomorrow” features Allan on violin. Paul Williams on vocals. Allan is starting to get his recorded sound in order.
"Tempest" is the 1973 debut album of the band of the same name, and features Allan on guitar, violin and backing vocals. He also contributed to the compositions. The band was put together by Jon Hiseman, but the tunes were for a large part co-written with members of the band. The album was recorded in London in late 1972 at AIR London Recording Studios. The band was modeled on Cream, but had a more progressive sound. The album sounds surprisingly good to this day. Allan was starting to get his recorded sound in order, and his playing sounds better and more assertive than on "Belladonna". There are plenty guitar solos throughout. "Strangeher" is a good example: The tune is based on a simple boogie riff, but Allan takes his solo far beyond simple pentatonics. "Upon Tomorrow" features Allan on violin.
