Igginbottom's Wrench

"Igginbottom's Wrench" is a 1969 album by the band Igginbottom, a four piece from Bradford. This was Allan's recording debut. The band played almost all original songs, mostly written and sung by Allan. The music was psychedelic 60's pop fused with jazz. The album was recorded mostly live in the studio, in a very short time span. The engineers would not let the band turn up the amps in the studio, and Allan found the experience to be dismal. His guitar style is there in embryonic form. Co-guitarist Steve Robinson played in a very similar style. The most interesting thing about this recording is perhaps the way the guitarists would sometimes play two different voicings at once, resulting in some very close clusters of chords that in some ways point forward to harmonies that would not flourish properly until the release of IOU.
