Allan Holdsworth Group

The live album "Then!", was formally credited on the cover to the "Allan Holdsworth Group". However, the album is usually considered a solo release.

Live shows would sometimes be credited to "The Allan Holdsworth Group" or "Allan Holdsworth Band", and early on as "Allan Holdsworth's I.O.U.", but these naming conventions probably meant very little in musical or business terms.

Even though Allan performed as a solo artist, he gave his musicians almost total creative freedom. This is a policy that he be his own admission took up after playing with Tony Williams, who operated his band on the same kinds of terms.
