Truth In Shredding (album)
"Truth In Shredding" is a 1990 album credited to MVP, which could stand for "Most Valuable Player", but in this context nominally stands for "Mark Varney Project". Mark Varney created this project for his record label "Legato". Mark is the brother of Shrapnel Records owner Mike Varney. In practice, this is a project meant to highlight the collaboration between Allan and Australian guitarist Frank Gambale. Gambale led the tracking sessions, while Allan overdubbed his solos in his home studio. Allan is featured as a soloist on every tune, alternating between playing the guitar and the SynthAxe. The music is high energy jazz-rock. Most of the tunes are covers of well known tunes by Mike and Randy Brecker, Chick Corea, and Wayne Shorter, while Gambale supplied one original tune.
